Heather Engel is Office Associate for NSEC and IGERT, and provides staff support for our program and educational activities. Heather received her Bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in environmental science from Bowling Green State University. Prior to joining our center, Heather worked at the OSU Medical Center for about three years. On an interesting note, Heather has served as a free lance television weathercaster. Prem Rose Kumar is Education Director for NSEC and IGERT, and is a licensed K-12 teacher. Prem earned her Master of Arts degree in humanities and Master of Science degree in nutritional biochemistry from Ohio State, and conducted doctoral research on the effects of micronutrient deficiency as a factor in colon cancer. Most recently MS/PhD advisor and Graduate Program Administrator in Mechanical Engineering at OSU, Prem is an experienced educator, researcher, science activist, academic advisor and mentor. In 2007, Prem was recognized for her achievements through the prestigious Ohio State University Distinguished Staff Award. Additionally, Prem is a recipient of the OSU College of Engineering Above and Beyond Staff Recognition Award. Layla Mohmmad-Ali is Administrative Associate for human resources and fiscal support. Layla has extensive experience with OSU and OSURF financial systems, and has served as Business Manager for the University Laboratory for Animal Resources. Layla holds a master's degree in educational statistics and research design from Michigan State University.
