Our
goal is to develop:
- AFM-based manipulation techniques (e.g. Dip-Pen Nanolithography or DPN) to pattern biomoelcules and nanoparticles at nm resolution;
- An optical trapping technique to manipulate gene-delivery nanoparticles and organelles inside a cell;
- Dielectrophoresis (DEP) to trap viruses and cells for pathogen detection and biomedical research;
- DNA/polymer patterning techniques to build nanowire biosensors; and
- DNA patterning, DPN and nano-positioning techniques to generate multi-functional nanoparticles for gene delivery.
Items (a), (c), and (d) support the Biosensors/-chips Testbed and (b) and (e) support the Drug/Gene Delivery Testbed.
